My NeW ThEoRy.

I am absolutely horrible at taking care of myself and being healthy, but I go through phases where I'm awesome and this week is the start of another health phase.  My schedule has transitioned into nutritious foods and RUNNING!  I LOVE running!  I hate running... but I love running!  The super sore part is over, and it's starting to get to where the side aches are gone and walking up stairs is possible again.  This is why I love running... you get to the part where you're just in shape enough to run fast for a long time, and then really push it and still have endurance at the end and it just makes you feel so free, like nothing can touch you.  And I just started running with music and it makes such a difference.  It seriously makes you go faster.  I feel like I'm in one of those movies where I'm running for my life or trying to save somebody.  Let's list a few amazing examples....

Matt Damon, running in the rain, wearing the sexy hat, to be with the woman he loves (The Adjustment Bureau)

Pocahontas running to save John Smith

Rocky: Do I even need to explain?  Except I do, because the most amazing part is right when he starts picking up his pace and the kids all eat his dust as he cranks out a full-blow sprint (1:30).

This is my goal this summer.  To be Rocky.

Now, on to my theory... There's something about exercising, that changes a person.  When I step it up and really try and practice my self-discipline it becomes an addiction after a while and I get this strong urge to become better at everything.
There are always different areas of your life you need to balance.  Remember learning this in middle school health class? You can separate your life into physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, blah blah blah.  And of all these life areas, I believe your physical life "section" is absolutely the hardest to discipline.  Maybe everyone has their own different weaknesses though, who knows.
But I feel like the better you do working on that challenging area, the more your habits will trickle down and improve in all of your balancing life categories.  Since I've been running I can think clearer, I've developed a desire to be more organized, I've put aside more time for myself to read scriptures, and along with that this has made me want to help others!  I helped a lost puppy find his owners today!  It's totally because of the running ;)
I think what I'm trying to say is this... Trying to be healthy doesn't only improve you physically, it improves everything around you.

Remember back in high school when I would run and have muscles and jump high?  I miss that.  Some day, some day I'll be in shape again.

  1. You are gorgeous anyway! I thought I'd never be able to run a mile, and I hit 4 yesterday!! I am loving it, but it is hard and takes a lot of mind control :) You were an athlete before, it will be easy for you to get back into it!!
