CaNaDa, eH?

Canada was our big trip of the summer.  Neither of us had ever been before and we both fell in love from the start!  We started thinking, "Is it really that crazy of an idea to live somewhere besides the US?"  Maybe we'll move to Canada someday.  Who knows.
The trip started out smooth.  No trouble at the border like we were afraid of (since my passport still has my maiden name on it).  We were able to meet Ben and Lydia at the ferry and kick off the trip by entertaining a crowd of tourists while feeding seagulls Cheez-its off the top of our heads.
The town of Victoria was beautiful!  We had an amazing hotel view right on the water and Mitchell was like a little child watching the seaplanes take off and land every half hour.  He was glued to the balcony the whole trip!
Before really getting a chance to do anything, one of our first stops ended up being the police station.  While driving through an intersection a big van on our left merged into the side of our car and dented it.  It took the guy about ten minutes to finally admit it was his fault, ha ha ha, so lovely.  Luckily we were literally right down the street from the police office, so we were able to drive up and jot up a quick police report, then we were back on our way.
Our first tourist attraction was The Butchart Gardens.  Breathtaking.  I've never been too enthusiastic about gardens, but I gained a new appreciation for plants and flowers and can't wait to have a cute garden someday that I can work on and decorate during the springtime.  This is by far my new favorite, favorite flower.
Our next stop was the Parliament Building downtown.  Mitchell's goal the whole time was to slowly creep closer and closer to the tour guide, making her back away and get as uncomfortable as possible.
That night was probably one of the best nights of our lives.  We were down in the swimming pool, and please know, this pool is so puny.  It stretched pretty far, but the width of it was maybe 10 feet across and depth was a little over 4 feet at best.  Mitch and Ben were taking turns doing fancy tricks.... like dolphins.  There were back flops and side spins happening all over the place.  Then the unthinkable happened.  Ben sprung so high out of the pool that he landed on the cement and woke up the next morning with a black eye.  It was one of those horrible/wonderful experiences.  Ben, we are so sorry.  But please know our lives are now completely fulfilled thanks to your brave, painful sacrifice.
The next day we went to the petting zoo.  And it was precious.  Mitchell used to have a pygmy goat as a child.  He would walk it like a dog and teach it lots of tricks.  And they are surprisingly more cuddly than they look from afar.  We'll probably get one someday.  We're gonna be THAT family with the goats.
Half way through the trip we switched locations, got back on the ferry to the main land, and arrived in Whistler.  There were lots of sweet local areas where the 2010 Olympics were held, so we got to see the sliding centre and the ski jumps.
We came during the best biking week of the year!  Crankworx is a huge competition for all the professional extreme bikers.  Here in the background Brian Lopes is about to race.
We saw a bear!  Actually we saw three bears this trip.  It was my first time seeing a wild one.  I mean, a zoo bear.... psh, it's just not the same.  This guy was so cute sittin' around and eating all the clovers and stuff.
Our last day was all about riding the Peak 2 Peak Gondola.  It was a blast!  This is the longest and highest gondola in the world!  As we glided through the fog, over the forest and between the mountains, we got to be a part of a once in a lifetime experience.  It was a-ma-zing!
Such a great trip!  I would do it again in a heartbeat!  All in all, Canada is pretty darn sweet!
